Mas de La Prade, which is within easy reach of the Canal du Midi and Carcassonne, has two gîtes. The Lavender gîte is the smaller of the two gîtes; it has two bedrooms and sleeps four. The gîte has its own terrace and shared use of the garden and swimming-pool.
Classic Languedoc style
Mas de La Prade is a beautiful example of a classic French farmhouse that one would find in the countryside around Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of south-west France.
Your own private terrace
Due to the Lavender gîte's east and south facing sides the gîte benefits from natural light from early morning to late afternoon. The gîte has its own terrace on these two sides, furnished with a wooden table, four wooden chairs, and a large parasol.
Spacious open plan living area
The living and dining area of the gîte is open plan. The living area is comfortably furnished with two sofas, a low table and a stove. The dining area is furnished with an antique table and four chairs. The two-hundred-year-old staircase and its balustrade, which was once a manger here at Mas de La Prade, partially divide the living area from the kitchen.
The kitchen subtly retains the old style of the gîte with its exposed original beams and natural stone wall and yet provides all the facilities you would expect from a modern kitchen; it is fully equipped with a sink, hob, fridge, dishwasher, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and pots and pans. To minimise noise the clothes washing-machine is located in the cupboard under the stairs.
Two beautiful bedrooms
The stairs lead to a spacious and well lit landing from which lead the bathroom and bedrooms. The Lavender gîte has one double bedroom and one twin both furnished with antique French furniture.
The lavender bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a loo and an old style basin set in a marble surround.
The garden, woods and swimming-pool with its eight sun-loungers are communal.
